At the heart of every ShamRockk scholarship is a young man who embodies more than just talent—he reflects a spirit that uplifts, connects, and inspires. He is already a dedicated dancer, navigating the intense demands of pre-professional or second company life with focus and resilience. But it’s who he is beyond the technique that sets him apart.
He is emotionally generous on stage, pouring heart and authenticity into every role, inviting audiences to feel, not just watch. His performances are not just technically strong—they’re magnetic, full of storytelling, passion, and soul. He doesn’t just dance; he invites others into his world. He is intensely focused when it comes to his craft, approaching his training and performances with discipline, hunger, and deep respect for the art form. He is also easy to work with, taking and implementing corrections from instructors and directors with diligence and grace.
Offstage, he’s the kind of person others naturally gravitate toward—warm, thoughtful, and inclusive. He notices when someone feels unseen and goes out of his way to make space for them. He builds bridges within his peer group, bringing people together to celebrate wins—big and small—and to bond over the shared challenges of the journey. He is a connector, a quiet leader, and a source of encouragement.
He uplifts others without losing sight of his own path and is fiercely loyal to those he calls friends. He offers feedback with kindness, cheers for his friends’ achievements, and genuinely celebrates their growth—even if their success comes at the cost of an opportunity he hoped for himself. He is deeply competitive—but only with the dancer he was yesterday. He believes there’s room for everyone to win, however winning is defined.
He may be reserved at first while he takes in a new situation, but around those he trusts, his personality shines. He’s thoughtful, introspective, and when comfortable, often the loudest laugh in the room—full of quick wit and a magnetic energy that lifts everyone around him. He holds his deepest thoughts close, sharing them only with a trusted few, but his presence is unmistakable. Those who know him, love him.
He also knows the importance of balance. Even with the demands of ballet life, he makes time for the things that keep his spirit grounded. Remi enjoyed playing guitar, reading, skateboarding through city streets, gaming with friends, FaceTiming with family, and sharing unfiltered laughs in group chats and late-night hangouts. These outlets don’t pull him away from his art—they deepen it. They remind him who he is beyond the barre.
He is a loving son, a loyal brother, and a friend who shows up in all the ways that matter. He leads with love, lives with curiosity, and leaves every space better than he found it.
This is the kind of dancer we are proud to walk beside.
This is the spirit of Remi, carried forward.
